The Rébuffat–Baquet route on the south face of the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 m) is the perfect introduction to high-altitude climbing. Its fantastic slabs and cracks have rightly earned this route its status as a classic!

This route, first climbed by Gaston Rébuffat and Maurice Baquet in 1956, is still one of the most popular climbs in the Mont Blanc massif. With its convenient access and descent, it’s easily completed as a day trip from Chamonix.

SCHEDULE
We’ll start with a briefing with the guide, then take the Aiguille du Midi cable car. From the top station, we’ll put on crampons and rope up for the descent onto the glacier. We'll approach the base of the South Spur, where the climb begins. After reaching the top, we’ll rappel down the opposite side of the spur, arriving directly at the cable car terrace.
NOTE: The meeting time and location will be confirmed at the time of booking.
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT: Helmet, harness, 12-point crampons with anti-balling plate compatible with your boots, classic ice axe, lanyard, HMS carabiner with wide base and locking mechanism, abseiling kit, 30/40L backpack.
CLOTHING: Crampon-compatible boots, climbing shoes, technical base layers, fleece, Gore-Tex or similar jacket, down jacket, Sholler or similar pants, gloves, hat.
OTHER: Energy snacks, camera, sunglasses (min. cat 3), sun protection.
