DENT DU GÉANT
DENT DU GÉANT
The Dent du Géant is one of the most beautiful peaks in the Mont Blanc Massif. Clearly visible from both the Aiguille du Midi and Pointe Helbronner, it is certainly the most accessible and impressive ascent starting from the italian cable car.
ROCK AND MIXED ROUTE
A spectacular and iconic climb on rock and mixed terrain, where a piece of mountaineering history was made.

ELEGANT LINE AND STRIKING VIEWS
Rising sharply above the Mont Blanc skyline, it’s an unforgettable ascent that has rewarded generations of climbers with a deep sense of achievement.
_______________________________
On certain summer days, the route can be quite busy, and some teams are forced to turn back due to a late start and the increased risk of afternoon storms. That’s why I offer this climb over two days, spending the night in Torino hut to allow for a better acclimatization an early morning departure.

SCHEDULE
Day 1: Take the Skyway cable car up to Torino. For an easy acclimatization, we can do a climb like the Traversée des Aiguilles Marbrées to review techniques, including rappelling. Overnight at the Torino hut.
Day 1: Early start from the Torino hut or the first cable car (note that the route can be quite busy in the summer). The ascent from the hut takes about 4 hours (650 m of elevation gain), including 150 meters of rock climbing in mountaineering boots.
The approach starts with a relatively flat glacier, followed by a mixed section of about 400 meters, where we progress roped together until we reach the “gencive.” From there, expect 1 to 2 hours of climbing on beautiful granite. The difficulty is eased by fixed ropes, but it still remains physically demanding at this altitude. The climbing grade is typically 4c to 5b max, or 5c without the fixed ropes.
The descent is made with 3 rappels from the summit of the Dent du Géant, followed by a return to the Torino hut (2 to 3 hours).
We’ll head back to Courmayeur by the end of the day.
NOTE: The meeting time and location will be confirmed at the time of booking.
